The Fort Worth Police Department's mission statement dedicates the department to creating a safe environment through partnership with the community. Target and the Safe City program are outstanding partners in this goal. The objectives of Safe City mirror those of the Fort Worth Police Department - developing safe areas to live, work, play and shop.

Target has helped our police department purchase a Sky Watch observation platform that is now being utilized by officers and citizen  volunteers to monitor large shopping areas, including Target stores in Fort Worth. In the first month of use, observers in the Sky Watch tower have assisted officers in apprehending several car burglars.

The Safe City concept is flourishing in the Montgomery Plaza development, an exclusive residential and shopping area near downtown Fort Worth. High rise apartments, Target and several larger stores, as well as numerous small shops, will be monitored through state-of-the-art CCTV.

Our goal also includes a policing district office to be included on the premises. I am grateful for the leadership and partnership that Target has offered the City of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Police Department through Safe City. I look forward to accomplishing much in future years through our ongoing partnership that is Safe City.
